There are sufficient lockers for each student to have individual use of their own locker.  Students may use only the lockers and locks assigned to them by their homeroom teacher. For security purposes, refrain from sharing locker combinations with peers.  Students are expected to keep lockers in good condition.  If a lock gets damaged or lost, a $10.00 fee will be required to obtain a replacement.  No open food is permitted in lockers as mold can easily grow.  Although the lockers are for student use for the year, they should be permanently marked up in any way.  If this occurs, students will be asked to clean them so that they are in the same condition for the student using them next year.

Note: Students’ lockers are not their personal property.  The locker and lock are the property of the CBE and can be checked by school administration as deemed necessary.  Personal locks are not permitted.

Punctual Arrival to Class – Locker Access During/Between Classes

In order to arrive to each class punctually, students should take all the materials needed for morning learning.  At the end of lunch, students should bring all the materials they need for the rest of the afternoon.  Students should not access their lockers in between classes.  Teachers take attendance in Power School each period of the day.  If a student does not report to class within two minutes of the designated start time, they will be marked Absent.  If the student arrives after attendance has been completed, the absence will be modified to Late.  Should an increased or chronic pattern of late arrivals be noted, the classroom teacher will communicate with parent about underlying causes and a plan for improvement will be established between parent, teacher, and student. Parents have access to period-by-period attendance through the Power School application.  In order to support punctual arrival to class, and minimize off-task behaviours, access to lockers are only permitted at nutrition break and at lunch time. Special permission by a classroom teacher is required for individual students to access lockers during class time.
