Dear Woodman Families:

We navigated a busy week – with unexpected weather events, activity cancellations, and guest teacher contingency plans – while remaining focussed on student learning and well being. The Woodman staff is a strong and cohesive team, and we have felt similar support from within our parent community.  Bravo on a well-accomplished week, Woodman Wolf Pack!

We welcome back our Grade 8 Sailors, who experienced better weather than in Calgary. Their flight is currently expected to land at the Calgary International Airport at 10:30 PM this evening. Students and colleagues will be happy to have Mr. Perez, Mme. Forster and Mr. Colbran back to regular classes on Monday.

Take note of the messages for the week ahead, April 20-24. Fri. April 24 is a CBE Indigenous Education professional learning day for staff, and there is no school for students

Wolf Pack Pep Talk

During Wolf Pack today, homeroom teachers reminded their classes about what makes this school a special place: the respect and friendliness of our students. At various points in the school year, we note the importance of reiterating positive decision making and good character. Students were reminded about:

  • Demonstrating respect for school facilities (walking in the hallways, maintaining orderliness in bathrooms, keeping lockers tidy)
  • Shining a positive light on the school when visiting local shoppes over the lunch hour (polite language, responsible actions when dining)

We request that families reinforce these messages at home with children through conversations this weekend.

Band Camp Drop-Off and Pick Up

The main and parking lot doors of the school will be open for the 7:30 am arrival time on Wednesday morning.  To reduce major congestion, families are encouraged to drop-and-go.  If accessing the staff parking lot, please vacate it by 8:00 am, to allow for staff arrival. Band students will gather in their teams in the main gymnasium for attendance and to await instructions. Please do not park on the school-side (north side) of 86th Ave, as coach buses will be parked and loading students.  Parents of participating students will receive an email on Friday afternoon with an estimated arrival time (around 4:00 pm) and instructions for retrieving students. This is a culminating event for the music program, and we thank the large number of parent volunteers and teachers (Mme. Walker, Mr. Collings, Ms. Karas, Mr. Homewood, Mr. Bane) for their support and supervision.
