Dear Woodman Families:
Despite the wind and unpredictable weather, we safely welcomed back 140 students from band camp – under the caring supervision of many teachers and parent volunteers. The school is most fortunate to count on such steady support. The musical development of our students is reaching an impressive level. New band members are always welcome to join for the upcoming year, and expectations for musical commitment and skill development will be shared with students at the upcoming CTF Symposium (May 28). Option class selection for 2026-2027 will commence in the next month.
Take note of the messages for the week ahead, April 27-May 1:
City of Calgary Street Cleaning Commences – Tues. April 28
Signs have been placed around Woodman School with reminders not to park along the surrounding streets. Spring street sweeping commences on Tuesday.
Field Trips and Badminton Athletic Forms This Week
Grade 6 students have their re-scheduled field trip to Rothney Astrophysical Observatory on Tuesday. Select grade 8-9 students from the Training in Excellence in Sport class will visit Winsport Training Centre on Wednesday. We wish our students a meaningful day of active learning.
Students selected to represent Woodman on our six badminton teams will receive their parental consent forms and student athletic behaviour contracts this week.
For planned field trips and participation on athletic teams, the school requests punctual payment in the My CBE parent portal, in advance of the event. This ensures that we can make timely payments to vendors and allows us to continue to offer similar off-campus learning opportunities in the future.
Virtual School Council Meeting – Tues. April 28, 7:00 pm
Everyone is encouraged to join us for the last online meeting of this school year. Assistant Principal Willoughby will be discussing Option Class Selection processes for 2026-2027 as well as details of the upcoming Feeder School event and CTF Symposium on May 28. Voting on school-identified areas of major spending will take place. See the agendas for more details posted to our School Council and Parent Society pages of the website.

Save the date for our Mix and Mingle event!
On Tuesday May 26 the School Council will come together for an informal gathering at Bitter Sisters to celebrate this year together and look ahead to what next year might bring. New parents of incoming students for 2026-2027 from Haysboro, Chinook Park and Late French feeder schools are welcome to join. This is an excellent opportunity to make new connections.
