Dear Woodman Families:

It was a week to remember at Woodman School – with so many student successes on display. The Spring Music Concert at Henry Wise Wood was well attended, and student performers were confident and prepared. The feeder school event welcomed more than 200 future students into the school. The two performances of Wizard of Oz were highly entertaining. And the skill and sportsmanship of our students was evident at the track meet on Friday. We are proud of the opportunities our students have to explore such a wide range of educational endeavors.

Take note of the important messages for the week of June 1-5:

June Learning

As we embark upon the last month of the school year, we will continue to support our students in giving their best efforts towards hard work, while participating positively in moments of celebration.  Family support is appreciated, in having students arrive to school punctually and ready to learn, attend school regularly, and uphold expectations for positive student conduct.

Spirit Week

Leadership 9 students invite the Wolves to have some fun this week, with dress up themes as follows:

  • Monday – Video Game Night
  • Tuesday – Make Your Own Theme Day
  • Wednesday – Retro (1990s-2000s)
  • Thursday – Popsicle Day
  • Friday – PJ Day

Option Course Selection – Due. Fri. June 5

Parents of students entering grades 7, 8 and 9 next school year received an email from Mr. Willoughby on Thurs., May 28th, with the information and links to complete option course requests for next school year. Please take the time to go over the email and complete the request form. Students will find out what option courses they receive on the first day of school. While not always possible, every effort is made to register students in their preferred courses. We ask that all students complete their selections by Fri., June 5. Students who have not self-registered by the due date will be placed into courses by the school.

IPP Transition Plans

Teachers have worked in teams to ensure solid transition plans have been established for students with Individual Program Plans (IPPs).  The final version of the IPP will be sent home to parents on Fri. June 5.  Please review, sign and return to school by Fri. June 12.

 Grade 9 Farewell – Tues. June 2, 6:30-10:00 pm

Great efforts have been made to prepare for an evening of celebration at Heritage Park. Grade 9 parents will be sent a separate email today with more specific logistical information.

Last week, families were reminded of the need to register for CBE Transportation by the deadline, June 14 to be designated to a route in advance of the first day of school. Note that:

  • Registration is available using the MyCBE account. (if families do not already have an account, click here to learn how to create one.)
  • Transportation can be cancelled with no financial impact by submitting the cancellation form by Sept. 30
  • Fees have increased to $500/year
  • Fees are due later in October with flexible payment options
  • Families can apply for waivers if they cannot afford to pay fees

Woodman Library Books Due: Fri. June 19

The last day to check out library books is Fri. June 5th. All books are due back to the Learning Commons on Fri. June 19.  Mme. Heron-Mykyte, Library Assistant, will provide overdue reminders to students.  Students who have not returned their library books by June 19 will be billed $15 per book, which will be added to the Power School fees account.

Earlier this year, Mme. Heron-Mykyte provided students with an orientation to their student membership to the Calgary Public Library (CPL).  We strongly encourage students to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the CPL, especially daily reading in English, French and heritage languages.

WMPA Notes

WMPA thanks families for the generous donations at the Spring Concert on May 27. Over $1000.00 were received!  These monies will be re-directed back to music programming priorities for 2026-2027. The final WMPA meeting is on June 23, 7:00 pm.
