Dear Woodman Families:

Highlights of the busy week include witnessing the effortfulness of our Grade 6/9 students in completing their first Provincial Achievement Tests.  There was notable success in punctuality, thoughtful pre-thinking, and passionate writing in both English and French.  It was also wonderful to see so many Grade 8 Wolves participate in their day of learning at Calaway Park today.  They returned to school with joy and positive energy. Thank you to the Woodman teachers for going the extra mile to ensure that learning is both hard and good.

Take note of the important messages for an equally busy week of May 25-29:

Grade 9 Farewell Payments – Due May 30

Grade 9 students were reminded today to have their consent forms returned and $76 payments made by the end of next week.  We would like all Grade 9 students to participate in the celebration at Heritage Park on June 2nd. Numerous generous families, and the School Council, have contributed towards off setting the costs of families who could benefit from a subsidized fee payment.  Please email woodman@cbe.ab.ca to indicate your need for financial assistance. Note that the school must pay for services at Heritage Park in a timely way, and therefore students must have payment complete in advance of participation in the event.

Student Referendum – Harms of Vaping

Alberta Lung - as part of a larger coalition of organizations committed to tobacco and vaping harm reduction - is informing youth and teacher organizations of a referendum specifically for students aged 13-18. The Alberta government is conducting a mandatory 5-year legislative review of the Tobacco, Smoking and Vaping Reduction Act this year. YOUTHDECIDE2026 is an Alberta-wide student referendum on tobacco and vaping protection running until May 30. It gives students a direct vote on what they want the government to do about vaping in their schools and communities.
