Dear Woodman Families:
The Wolf Pack Celebrates Terry Fox
Today was a fun day for all. The Terry Fox lessons presented, the commitments to run for family and friends who have faced a cancer diagnosis, the class photos, and the sense of school community in the outdoor fields all contributed to a special event. We acknowledge the Leadership 9 students who organized the event with a great sense of responsibility. Thank you for the cash donations towards the Terry Fox Cancer Foundation. Online donations will continue to be accepted until Sept.30: https://schools.terryfox.ca/136473.
Subscribe to School Messages
Woodman School sends weekly emails to families in the form of the “Woodman Weekly”. This communique includes all the important information for the week ahead. School Picture Day – Monday
Individual photos will be taken of each student, which will be used for their Power School profile, as well as the 2026-2027 Woodman yearbook. Families will receive proofs from Lifetouch/Everest within the next few weeks, if they wish to make an order of photos for purchase.
Last Chance: Order Woodman Physical Education (PE) Clothing
Now is the time to show school pride by purchasing customized PE clothing for class. Woodman strongly encourages students to wear a Woodman shirt and shorts/sweats. Don’t Miss It! “Meet Woodman Night”, Thursday, Sept. 17, 6:30-8:00 PM
We encourage all families to attend our year-opening event on Thursday. Obtaining information about school processes and learning plans is vital to ensuring a successful year. Come early to get a seat and find parking – as the building and surrounding parking areas fill up quickly. The event will commence promptly with greetings by school administration and introduction of staff in the main gym. Students may join with their parents and show them around their classrooms. We remind families that this is a time for an informal meet-and-greet, and not for one-on-one meetings with individual teachers.
Woodman Music Parents’ Association AGM, Thursday, Sept. 17, 8:00 PM
All Grade 5-6 families, as well as students taking Band in Grade 7-9, are invited to the Band Room at the conclusion of the evening. The Woodman Music Parents’ Association (WMPA) will present information about their role in supporting music programming at the school. During the meeting, the annual vote for executive member positions will also be held. Consider your participation in the executive this year!
Calgary Bridge Foundation for Youth at Woodman
We are pleased to welcome the return of a valued community partner to work alongside the school in offering new-to-Canada students with vital supports and resources. The program offers eligible youth and their families with assistance in transitioning to a new school system, translation services, making friends, accessing medical and psychological services, etc. Calgary Bridge Foundation staff will participate in the Meet Woodman evening to answer questions about the weekly in-school settlement worker role, as well as other services they provide to Woodman families.
