Dear Woodman Families:
We wish participating Grade 8 students and their teachers a safe and memorable week of learning on the sea, through the annual SALTS sailing trip. Families of participating students are reminded to report to the Calgary International Airport at 6:00 am on Monday morning.
Take note of the messages for the week ahead, April 13-17:
Guest Teachers at Woodman Next Week
We will have numerous guest teachers at the school over the next two weeks, as Woodman teachers are leading the Gr. 8 Sailing Trip, participating in system wide international French language credentialing (DELF), and accompanying students on the annual Band Camp (April 22-24). Woodman teachers leave comprehensive teaching plans to ensure a smooth experience for guest teachers and continuous learning for students. Consistent reminders of positive conduct are shared with students, when regular teachers are busy with other professional responsibilities. Thank you for supporting this message with children at home as well.
DELF Exam – Grade 8 Late French
We commend our Grade 8 Late French students for piloting the A2 DELF exam on April 15 and 30. This is a CBE-led opportunity, which Woodman teachers have been diligently preparing students for. The intent of the DELF is to build confidence, validate French language skills through an international benchmark, and encourage students to continue to pursue future French learning, study and work goals. We are proud of our students and wish them the best of success. Learn more about how the CBE supports international language credentialing here: CBE Language Credentials
Student Health and Well-Being – School and Family Teamwork
Important themes on mental health, conflict resolution, social media smarts and healthy life choices were presented to students through the Wellness Day on Friday. These themes, aligned with the Alberta programs of studies and the CBE Well-Being framework, included group presentations from community partners, as well as follow up lessons in homeroom classes. We encourage parents to ask questions and extend conversations about these themes. The following additional support and education for parents may be helpful: Community Education Services

Woodman Presents “Wizard of Oz”, Thurs. May 28
The expansion of the Drama program at Woodman is an ongoing priority. Drama programming promotes self-confidence, language development and positive student camaraderie. The Drama Production Club has begun work on the inaugural performance of the Wizard of Oz, with cast and crew putting in exceptional efforts in class and lunch time to prepare. Students will be performing for our incoming Wolf Pack members during the CTF Symposium on May 28th, with an evening performance planned for family and friends in the school gymnasium. More information about ticket sales is forthcoming.
WMPA Minutes
Thank you for the ongoing teamwork of parent volunteers in planning for music programming costs and opportunities. Special recognition is extended for the vote to increase subsidies to families, ensuring that more than 170 students can participate in the Band Camp in Caroline, Alberta.
