Dear Woodman Families,
We have concluded an intensive winter season in the school calendar, and we welcome the official start of spring break.
The main office is closed, and staff emails will not be monitored until the return to classes on Mon. March 31. Note a few important messages for the week of Mon. March 31-Fri. April 4:
Parent-Teacher Conferences and Beyond
The meetings held between teachers, students and parents over the last two days are vital for reinforcing the relationship around learning. We wish to keep the direction clear between now and the end of the school year. Parents can support continued learning through:
- Hosting daily conversations about topics covered in class
- Viewing D2L resources and assessment results in Power School
- Promoting the habit of daily reading, review of English or French vocabulary, and regular Math practice
More information about year end assessment will be shared with families in April.
Plans for 2025-2026 School Year
As we enter the staffing season for the upcoming school year, we request that families who know they will be moving out of our catchment area – or who are planning to attend another school for any other reason - inform us by emailing woodman@cbe.ab.ca. Maintaining a clear sense of our student enrollment trends is important in our school planning.
Dates of Cultural Significance
The Woodman school community is diverse and beautiful. We wish to honour the cross section of traditions, languages, and celebrations that are being commemorated over the next month, as follows:
March 31 Eid al Fitr
April Sikh Heritage Month
April 12-20 Passover
April 14 Vaisakhi
April 18 Good Friday
April 20 Easter / Orthodox Easter
Grade 9 Farewell – New Date: June 3
Woodman has an annual tradition of celebrating our Grade 9 students at Heritage Park. This is an evening event for staff and students. More information will be circulated in early April. Note that we have changed the date which was communicated last week, and which inadvertently created a calendar conflict with our feeder high school graduation. Save Tues. June 3, 6:30-10:00 pm on your family calendars!
Grade 7 Parents –AEAM Survey Deadline Extended
Alberta Education has extended the deadline for completing the annual Education Assurance Survey, to March 28. As of today’s date, 30 out of 162 families have completed the survey. We would appreciate a strong response rate. Email woodman@cbe.ab.ca if you have any questions about how to complete the survey.
