Dear Woodman Families
Teachers across the CBE had an impactful day of professional learning today. Our organization provides timely and practical support to ensure that teachers continually keep ahead of emerging trends in language learning, student health and well being, and enhanced educational programming (the arts, design thinking, etc.).
Take note of the following messages regarding the week ahead, April 22-26. We hope to see a very strong turn out at the Family Movie Night on Thursday. Doors open at 6:00. Bring your friends and neighbours!
CBE Support Staff Appreciation Week
This week we acknowledge the myriad ways in which support staff efforts hold our school together. Educational assistants provide direct support to teachers and students in classrooms. The office staff is a beehive of service-minded activity. Lunchroom supervisors create positive experiences for Gr. 5-6 students on a daily basis. The facility team works tirelessly throughout the day, evening and weekend. And the library assistant is always available to make a good book recommendation, or provide a quiet space for reflection and study. Thank you, Woodman support staff!
Woodman Welcomes Canadian Author – David Bouchard!
Humanities teachers have been eagerly planning and preparing together with Mr. Bouchard over the last few weeks, for his anticipated arrival to our school. He will launch his residency with students on Monday morning (Earth Day), through a school wide assembly. Throughout the week, students will learn skills in poetry writing and engage directly with Mr. Bouchard throughout the creative process. Themes will include exploring nature as our extended family. We know that students’ confidence in writing and in the spoken word will be greatly enhanced.
Owls’ Nest Book Fair – Learning Commons
Homeroom classes will all visit the wide array of books and small gifts that will be on sale in the Learning Commons. The book fair will be organized by student leaders, with sales occurring on a daily basis over the lunch hour. A commercial email was sent earlier today with all purchasing information.
School Council Meeting Tuesday 7:00 pm
Please join us for the monthly virtual meeting. Important advocacy information will be shared, and a vote will be held regarding numerous proposed resolutions by the Alberta School Councils’ Association. Learn more about our budget, financial scenarios, and class configurations for the upcoming school year. See agenda for more details: April 23 Agenda

French Immersion Program Monitoring
Grade 9 families received an invitation last week to complete an important survey regarding your experiences with learning French at Woodman. Your participation will inform our stakeholder committee in establishing goals for continual improvement over the next five years. Please complete the survey this week. Merci!
