Dear Woodman Families
It was a cheerful return to school life following spring break. Despite the unsettled weather, students found moments to be active – indoors and out – and to re-establish learning routines with their teachers.
Note a few important messages for the week of April 7-11:
Student Sailing Trip – West Coast April 7-11
We wish the Grade 8-9 students who will be travelling to Victoria, BC an unforgettable week of learning on the waters. We will expect to see families at the airport on Monday morning, at 6:00 am.

Vaping and Youth | April 9 | 11:30am
Band Camp Mandatory Parent Meeting, Wed. April 9, 6:30 pm
The annual Band Camp in Caroline, Alberta, is a highlight for more than 150 Grade 7-9 students. It will take place on May 5-7. During this time, students will be surrounded by the beauty of the surrounding area, taken care of by a solid team of teachers and parent volunteers, and in the company of expert musicians and clinicians. Thank you to the Woodman Music Parents’ Association for their financial support to ensure that all students can participate in the experience. Given the significant responsibility of caring for this large number of students on an overnight excursion, we ask that all parents of participating students attend the meeting. The school has a requirement to inform you of our plans, communication while on the trip, dietary/medical questions, and expected student behaviours.
Wellness Day – Fri. April 11
Today, in preparation, students learned about the significance of Wellness Days, and how the voices of the student Well-Being team and Student Council are incorporated into the planning of our day. During our upcoming Wellness Day on Friday, we welcome guest presenters as follows:
- Calgary Police Service Youth Link
“Cyber Safety, Online Privacy/Protection, Social Media Etiquette” - Calgary Bridge Foundation for Youth
“Getting Along in an Inter-Cultural and Multi-Lingual School” - Canadian Mental Health Association
“How to Be There for a Friend”
Students will also have organized outdoor and active games. Everyone should come to school dressed to be outside, with extra snacks and liquids. We anticipate the weather to be warm and look forward to the benefits of connecting, and of building social and emotional skills together.
CBE 2025-2026 Calendar
As Woodman families plan their lives, including travel, we request consideration of the published CBE calendar of non-instructional days:
h2025-2026 CBE Instructional Calendar
Note that the first day of school is on Tues. Sept. 2, 2025 (after the August long weekend). Similar to this school year, a Fall Break has been set in November, in addition to the customary Winter and Spring breaks. Maintaining regular school attendance, and planning travel during scheduled breaks, is vital to success in learning and social development.
Badminton Try-Outs Continue
The good spirit of our Wolves was on full display during the first week of try-outs. Try-outs continue next week, and final teams will be formulated shortly. Students should connect with he PE teacher for more details.
