Dear Woodman Families,
Woodman School was alive with over 400 guests and 50 student volunteers during our annual Open House yesterday evening. We anticipate continued growth and interest in our rich programming options. We especially thank our staff for their creative efforts in making the evening a resounding success.
Take note of the following messages regarding the week ahead, Feb. 26-March 1.
Lawn Signs to Show Woodman Pride
We continue with our recruitment efforts. Any family members that would be interested in placing a lawn sign on their property, may express interest by emailing woodman@cbe.ab.ca. The sign states, “My child loves learning French at Woodman – and yours will, too!” It includes our school logo and telephone number. These lawn signs have been highly successful in the past and we hope to count on you to continue with the tradition.
Last Week – “Meals from the Heart” Food Drive
The Leadership 9 class invites students and their respective homerooms to bring in food donations for the Calgary Food Bank. The campaign will run until Thursday. All donations can be brought to their homeroom class and a running tally will be kept to determine which group brings in the most – whichever class comes out on top will have earned a heart-felt prize! Let’s all show how much Woodman cares for our more vulnerable citizens.
Wellness Day - Anti-Bullying Focus (Fri. March 1)
Our Wellness Committee has been planning an important day of learning about Digital Citizenship, the legal and moral impacts of online behaviour, and fostering a personal commitment towards anti-bullying. We will be joined by important community partners, including the Calgary Police Service and Kids Help Phone. This theme aligns with Pink Shirt Day Canada (Wed. Feb. 28). Learn more here!
The four Wellness Days planned throughout the school year (Oct. 27, Dec. 15, March 1 and May 3) align with our School Development Plan goals for Well-Being. They work in tandem with weekly Health classes, daily Physical Education, and lunch time Intramural Sports. We want to keep our Wolves healthy - in body and mind!
