Dear Woodman Families,
We thank the many prospective families who joined us for our Open House on Thursday evening. We were pleased to welcome CBE Education Director Yeung, who participated in the official unveiling of the Mural of Memory and Meaning. We are grateful for his support.
Artist Michelena Bamford has now completed her three-month residency. The artistic process—engaging many of our students—has been documented beside the completed mural. Families are encouraged to visit the mural the next time they are in the school. We also extend our sincere thanks to School Council for their generous support of this meaningful project.
Upcoming Week & School Closure Reminder
Please note the following important dates:
- Thursday–Friday, February 12–13: No school for students (Calgary City Teachers’ Convention)
- Monday, February 16: No school (Family Day)
- Tuesday, February 17: Regular classes resume

Lunar New Year
Tuesday, February 17 marks Lunar New Year, a significant cultural celebration observed by many communities across Canada and around the world. Often referred to as:
- Spring Festival
- Chinese New Year
- Tết (Vietnamese communities)
- Seollal (Korean communities)
This celebration holds deep cultural and historical meaning for many Southeast Asian communities, including a large cohort of Woodman students.
Grade 9 – High School Transition Information
New information related to teacher course recommendations and online registration for high school electives will continue to be added to the D2L shell. Families and students are encouraged to check this site regularly.

Semester 2 Option Course Fees
Semester 2 fees have now been added to the MyCBE Parent Portal. These fees cover consumable materials purchased by the school for individual student use.
- Foods (Culinary Arts): $35
- Construction: $30
- Art (Grades 7–8): $30
- Design Studies: $20
Woodman Hosts Junior Boys Volleyball
Woodman will host Junior Boys Volleyball games on Tuesday, February 10, playing against David Thompson and Sam Shaw schools.
- Students may remain to watch the first game at 4:15 PM
- After the first game, students must either:
- Leave the school, or
- Be supervised by a responsible adult
