Dear Woodman Families,
We had a week of high-impact successes. A contingency of over 100 student athletes represented the school very positively at the Calgary Middle Level School Athletic Association Track Meet. Additionally, 200 student musicians raised the roof at the year-end music concert, hosted at Henry Wise Wood High School. We are so proud of our students!
Take note of the important messages for the week of June 10-14.
Grade 6/9 PAT and Grade 7/8 Exam Schedule
Grade 7-8 students will follow a similar exam schedule as the Grade 6/9 PATs. During PAT/Exam days in which the exam is lengthy (June 12, 18, 19 and 20), we will have an extended lunch hour, from 12:10 PM -1:11PM. Regular lunch processes and supervision will occur during this extended time. Following the PATs/Exam, there will be regular classes in the afternoons in which all students are expected to attend.
CPS Social Media Presentation – Tuesday, June 11
We welcome back to Woodman, the Calgary Police Service (CPS) team of presenters who attended our Wellness Day in March. Each Grade 8 homeroom class will receive an individual follow up conversation. Themes will include: social media etiquette, ethical decision making, and legal implications to online actions. Let’s continue to work as partners between home and school to protect and educate our youth on these important themes. Families may wish to access the following MediaSmarts resource at home: Talking TikTok: A Family Guide
Individualized Program Plans – Return Signed by June 20
Teachers are in the final stages of completing IPPs, which will include a summary of growth in relation to goals, as well as transition plans and considerations to make when planning out next year’s goals. Teachers will be circulating IPPs by Wednesday, in a closed envelop. Please check your child’s backpack, review the IPP, and return the completed signature sheet for filing in the Official Student Record.
Return All Library Books
This was the last week for students to sign out books. All books are due back to the Learning Commons on Fri. June 14. Ms. Jamieson, Library Assistant, will provide overdue reminders to students next week. Students who have not returned their books by June 24 will be billed $15 per book, which will be added to the Power School fees account.
School Council - End of Year Staff Appreciation June 14
Please help us to show our appreciation of Woodman School staff by providing a food dish for them to enjoy at lunch on Friday, June 14. We would like to encourage a variety of food enjoyed by people around the world to share connections between culture at home and the multicultural environment at Woodman School. All food is welcome and appreciated. Please label your dishes.
