Dear Woodman Families:

We did not think we could continue to have so much fun and relevant learning than we have already experienced this year. But this week matched all the others!  Between the Grade 9 Farewell at Heritage Park, the Honeybee Merchant, VCore Space Exploration, Flag Football Tournament, and Indigenous Garden Planting – we kept our Wolves busy.

Please note a few important messages for the week of June 9-12:

Chilled Water Bottle Filling Station

After a long wait, students are pleased to have their second water bottle filling station installed in the lower level of the school.  The need for another water bottle filling station was raised by students themselves, who elected to prioritize on this purchase. The cost has been covered through Healthy Hunger fundraising, led by Leadership 9 students. Thank you to all families who regularly support this initiative by ordering lunches online. All proceeds are directly re-invested into school enhancements.

Individualized Program Plans – Return Signed by June 20

Teachers have completed final Individual Program Plans (IPPs), which include a summary of growth in relation to goals, as well as transition plans and considerations to make when planning out goals for next year.  Students received their IPPs today, in a closed envelop.  Please check your child’s backpack, review the IPP, and return the completed signature sheet for filing in the Official Student Record.

Track and Field Meet, Tues. June 10, Foothills Athletic Park

Finalists for the upcoming annual Track and Field Meet were announced earlier this week. Over 100 Gr. 6-9 students have qualified to participate.  Note a few informational items:

  • Parent consent forms and payment information ($22) were circulated this week; please ensure payment is made in Power School, in advance of the event
  • Athletes will require their own transportation to the Foothills Athletic Park at 2431 Crowchild Trail NW.
  • There will be a food truck available on site for purchasing snacks; the school recommends students bring ample water, snacks and a hearty lunch
  • This is a low, flexible supervision of students while at the track meet; students must represent the school well and cooperate with teacher instructions, or parents will be requested to pick them up from the facility early
  • Students are not permitted to leave the Foothills Athletic Park Track Facility unless being picked up by their guardians

Regular classes will be running at the school this day.  Students who are not selected for the team may not attend the event.  Should non-participating Woodman students report to the facility, their parents will be called to request that they be retrieved.
