Dear Woodman Families,
We hope our Wolves have enjoyed the warmth and sunshine on their day off school.  Teachers were the learners today, taking away key understandings about the science of reading to learn at higher academic levels.

Please take note of the important messages for the week of March 3-7:

Parent Volunteers Needed: Cinémagine Alberta Film Event, Thurs. March 6

To kick off Francophone festivities in March, students of the French Immersion program (Grade 5-9) will experience a unique cinema event, en français, at Shawnessy Landmark Cinema. Students received their parent consent forms this week - with information about payment and departure/return times. Given the short turnaround time, we request the prompt return of forms to your child’s French Language Arts teacher on Monday, paying the corresponding field trip fee in the MyCBE parent portal.  Parent volunteers are urgently required in order to fulfill CBE supervision requirements.  Please email your child’s FLA teacher to confirm your availability to assist.

Special Presentation - CPS Cyber-Safety for Youth

Tues. March 4, 7:00 pm - virtual only

This Tuesday, join the Calgary Police Service Youth Link virtual parent presentation a topic of key importance – how to protect our youth in an increasingly digital social world. Students and their social media activity often becomes one of the most common causes for
conflict and risk – which school administration and parents then need to work together to resolve.  What keeps teens busy on their cell phones in their bedrooms? How do we help them when they have made mistakes on social media? What are some preventative practices we can all employ? These and many other similar questions will be answered through the presentation.

Woodman Council and Society meetings will follow the presentation.  The agenda will be circulated shortly.

Grade 9 Farewell Baby Photos

One of the annual traditions of the Grade 9 Farewell Celebration at the end of May (Heritage Park) is being able to showcase the growth of our wonderful students. We are asking parents to root through their baby pictures and send their favourite via email to be included as part of the slideshow presentation while the students dine. Pictures can be sent to Mme Breuer at: beallsopp@cbe.ab.ca

Purdy’s Chocolate Fundraiser Launches Monday!

In support of the Grade 9 Farewell, the School Council and Leadership 9 students are jointly launching a fundraiser campaign to ensure that no Grade 9 student is prevented from celebrating their middle school experience at Woodman. If you have signed up to receive commercial emails, an email will be sent to you on Monday with all the relevant details of supporting this good cause.  The online campaign will run from March 3-April 1. The goal is to raise $1500.00!
