Summer French Camps
Language learning requires frequent practice opportunities in order to promote increased confidence. The summer holidays can be an excellent time to boost French language learning. See some suggested options, below:
Coffee With the Principal – Wednesday, May 29, 2:00-3:30 PM
Several times throughout the year, we invite families to attend an informal visit with school administration. This session will be focused on the French Immersion Program Monitoring that the school piloted this year. Surveys from Grade 9 parents, students and all teachers have produced favourable results. Areas of growth for future focus need to be determined, based on the data collected. Your voice and conversation in helping to improve the French Immersion experience at Woodman would be sincerely appreciated. All parents, grades 5-9, are invited. Please confirm your attendance by emailing woodman@cbe.ab.ca.
CBE School Bus Transportation Registration
Families are now able to register for school bus service for the 2024-2025 school year. Service levels and proposed fees will remain the same as the current school year.
Families must register by Sunday, June 16 for students to be added to routes for the start of the next school year.
We continue to accept registrations after the deadline; however, students are added to the closest existing stop with available space. Processing times could be up to six weeks at the beginning of the school year due to volume.
Note: Conditional ridership forms will be available after registration closes.
Outstanding Parent Fees
As we approach the end of the financial school year, we request that families visit their CBE fees account. These include: Wellness days, artist-in-residence experiences, field trips, noon activity fees, and options course fees. We want to continue to provide exceptional programming for students, and we can do so with your attention to this matter. The Minister of Education has approved all assigned fees. Should there be any fees you would like to discuss, or require assistance in paying, please contact the main office.
Impressive Fundraising Efforts
Woodman is fortunate to count on high participation levels in fundraising initiatives that enhance program offerings. Thank you to the efforts expended on:
- Family Movie Night – funds directed to Grade 9 Farewell
- Owl’s Nest Book Fair – new books added to library collection
- WMPA Bottle Drive and Growing Smiles – band clinics and camp costs
- Quebec Family Fundraising Committee – off-setting family trip costs
Thank you to the positive response on the School Council fundraising survey, which was circulated last week. A high percentage of respondents indicated that they would be interested in participating in a 50-50 raffle ticket sale in September. More information will be shared by the School Council in the near future.
Remember the Kernel’s Popcorn Fundraiser is now active! Get your friends, family and neighbours involved!
