Dear Woodman Families:

It was a great day of fun and real-world learning at Calaway Park today, as Grade 8 students learned about the scientific principles of mechanical systems.

Take note of the important messages for the week of May 27-31.

Grade 9 Farewell Heritage Park – Tuesday, May 28

Staff are anticipating an evening of memorable celebration with our Grade 9 students.  These students have shown endurance and good courage throughout their middle years.  Thanks to the financial support of the Woodman School Council and Leadership 9 fundraising initiatives, the overall individual cost per student has been subsidized. Grade 9 families will be sent an email with additional logistical details to ensure the evening is a successful one.

Coffee With the Principal – Wednesday, May 29, 2:00 - 3:30 PM

Several times throughout the year, we invite families to attend an informal visit with school administration.  This session will be focused on the French Immersion Program Monitoring that the school piloted this year. Surveys from Grade 9 parents, students and all teachers have produced favourable results.  Areas of growth for future focus need to be determined, based on the data collected.  Your voice and conversation in helping to improve the French Immersion experience at Woodman would be sincerely appreciated. All parents, grades 5-9, are invited. Please confirm your attendance by emailing woodman@cbe.ab.ca.

Growing Smiles Fundraiser – Plants Arrive on Wednesday, 3:45 - 6:00 PM

The Woodman Music Parents’ Association wishes to thank families for supporting the last fundraiser, Growing Smiles. Over 800 individual plants were purchased.  Parents who submitted online orders are welcome to come to the staff parking lot, after yellow school busses depart at 3:45 PM. Access to the school will be through the staff parking lot/main gym door.  Note that access through the main entrance door of the school will not be available or monitored during this time frame.

There will also be individual plants for sale, if parents who missed the online order information still wish to participate. Please bring cash: prices range from $3 to $40. All proceeds are re-directed back into music programming at Woodman.

Any questions can be directed to Melissa at melissa@malejko.com
