Woodman Weekly Nov. 27 - Dec. 1 | Learning Conferences, BelCanFran Meeting, Spirit Week, Dance Residency, WMPA Meeting, Athletics
Dear Woodman Families
The best part of our week was connecting with students and their parents about progress in learning over the last two days. Thank you for the positive level of participation. It takes a strong home-school team to give our youth the best environment in which to thrive.
The total donation results of the Terry Fox Foundation fundraiser at the end of September have been finalized. Woodman families contributed $1115.00 towards the fight to end cancer. We achieved our charity donation goal, and thank everyone who contributed.
Take note of a few important messages for the week of Nov. 27-Dec.1:
Learning Conferences and Beyond
The Learning Conferences provided an important moment to celebrate student growth and clarify understanding of what students should be focussed on between now and the Semester 1 report card at the end of January. If you were unable to meet, missed your appointment, or require further clarification, please do not hesitate to email your child’s teacher. Increasingly, throughout the middle years, we also want to promote student self-advocacy in directing questions and requests to their teachers, who care for them and want to help them strengthen their voice in learning. Woodman staff email addresses are posted to the website:

Belcanfran Parent Meeting – Sun., Nov. 26
We remind families of the international exchange opportunity to France, which can benefit French language development and intercultural understanding. Any interested Woodman families are invited to the Haysboro Community Centre this Sun. Nov. 26, 3:30 pm to learn more about exchange opportunities for the 2024-2025 school year. More information can also be found on the website: https://www.belcanfran.com/
Spirit Week!
With Learning Conferences behind us, Leadership students have designed a fun week ahead, with a number of memorable ways to get included in photos showcased in the 23-24 Woodman Yearbook. We encourage your child to participate:
Monday – “Anything But a Backpack Day”
Get creative and bring materials to school in something different than the usual backpack; items need to be able to fit the door, be non-living, and safe
Tuesday – “Crazy Hair Day”
Add flair, colour and shape to your daily look!
Wednesday – “Character Day”
Come dressed as a movie, novel, or TV show character, no fake weapons, please
Thursday –“Twinning is Winning”
Come dressed just like someone else and parade down the halls!
Friday – “PJ Day”
Bring your cozy-wear and enjoy a day bundled up in your PJs in class
Sound Kreations Dance Residency
Physical Education (PE) teachers are excited for the upcoming DANCEPL3Y, which promises eight full days of dance magic from December 4 to December 14, 2023. Some of the program will be delivered in French, providing a unique language experience. Learning from professional dancers comes at a cost.
