Dear Woodman Families:

Our Gr. 8/9 students and teachers had a memorable day of connection with each other today, in the beautiful outdoor spaces of Fish Creek Park and North Glenmore Park. Wellness Days such as these are an essential condition for good learning together. We thank the School Council for covering the cost of yellow school busses to Fish Creek Park.

Well-Being in Times of Uncertainty

Over the last three days, we have spent time with your children - attempting to answer questions accurately and objectively, modelling courage, and navigating through uncertainty together. We know that parents will do the same, and we extend our gratitude and commitment to you, in prioritizing the well being of our teens. Many students took home books and band instruments today. Others may wish to access D2L and Google Classroom, given the Oct. 3 communique to families that these platforms will remain accessible. We hope the Pack Comes Back together soon!

Strike Action – ATA Staff (Teachers)

As the CBE is preparing for the commencement of a strike for ATA staff, the Labour Action page of the corporate website will be the point source of all updates and communication to families.

Communication from Woodman School, including the Woodman Weekly on Fridays, will resume at the conclusion of labour action.

University of Calgary (U of C) – Institute of Child Psychology

The U of C is bringing a special event to Calgary on Nov. 15: “Childhood Anxiety: Helping Children Heal”. This is a practical workshop for educational professionals, parents and caregivers to want practical, compassionate tools to support children struggling with anxiety. Explore French Summer Programs for Canadian Youth

Since its inception in 1971, Explore—formerly known as the Summer Language Bursary Program—has been a popular choice among young Canadians. The program offers students a unique opportunity to discover another region of Canada while improving their French or English language skills. Over the course of three or five weeks, participants engage in a rich, immersive experience filled with learning, cultural exchange, and personal growth in one of Canada’s official languages.  Numerous Woodman students have benefitted from the program in the past, and we encourage families to consider participation for Summer 2026: Explore – Second-Language Program
