Dear Woodman Families:
Please take note of a few final messages of the 2025-2026 school year:
Gratitude for a Positive Last Week of School
Thank you to the dozens of families to contributed towards the Cultural Potluck last Wednesday. The Learning Commons was alive with celebration. The event was facilitated by the Well-Being Team and Leadership 9 students, having identified Cultural Potlucks as an effective way to help students feel known and to celebrate who they are.
We recognize the incredible efforts of teachers at a busy time of year, in offering a rich and exciting Wellness Day last Thursday. Student attitudes and behaviours during the various field trips were exemplary. Thank you to families for their prompt payment of fees and financial cooperation, allowing us to execute our ambitious plans. Transportation costs were offset by the Woodman School Council, whom we thank for their support.
We concluded the school year on Friday in the same way as we started – together in community and fostering strong relationships with each student. There were many good-byes, warm words of gratitude, and autographs in yearbooks and T-shirts. In our year-end assembly, we recognized hundreds of students for giving to school life in many important ways. We thanked families and staff for the strong community that has been built. We gave a special send-off to the departing Grade 9 class, with our best wishes for their future in high school.
Departing Staff
Mme Welton is moving to the French Immersion program at Bishop Pinkham School. Mme. Welton made a positive impact in the Late French Immersion program, Grade 5/6 classes, coaching volleyball, and supporting the launch of the Wizard of Oz drama production this year. We wish her all the best.
We thank Ms. Stenhouse for leaving retirement and returning to Woodman in a temporary capacity this school year. Ms. Stenhouse has worked intensively with Grade 9 teachers and small student groupings to increase literacy skills. She has also supported English Language learners in Grade 7. Our positive student achievement and well being results have been influenced by her work, together with teacher colleagues, this school year.
